NOx and CO Fluctuations in a Busy Street Canyon
نویسندگان
چکیده
Busy street canyons can have a large flow of vehicles and reduced air exchange wind speeds at level, exposing pedestrians to high pollutant concentrations. The airflow tended move with along the canyon 1-s concentrations NO, NO2 CO were highly skewed close road more normally distributed sensors some metres above road. pollutants autocorrelated these elevated sensors, suggesting less variable concentration away from traffic in areas low turbulence. kerbside also showed cyclic changes approximating nearby signal timing. cross-correlation between measurements suggested that variation moved vehicle speed canyon, but slower vertically. NOx slightly higher under metre per second. local ozone had little effect on proportion present as NO2. Pedestrians roadside would be unlikely exceed USEPA hourly guideline value for 100 ppb. Across campaign period, individual minutes exceeded guidelines, though short-term, high-concentration exposures is not well understood. Tram stops carriageway divider are places where longer levels traffic-associated possible.

Flow characteristics and particle mass and number concentration variability within a busy urban street canyon
Mean and turbulent flow characteristics together with particle concentrations were measured in a busy urban street canyon in Essen, Germany, at five (flow characteristics) and three heights (particles) above ground, respectively. Particle mass and number concentrations were sampled in the size range 0.3oDpo10 mm. The flow characteristics within the canyon were significantly influenced by canyon...

A general proecological urban road traffic control idea for the street canyon is proposed with emphasis placed on development of advanced continuum field gasdynamical (hydrodynamical) control model of the street canyon. The continuum field model of optimal control of street canyon is studied. The mathematical physics approach (Eulerian approach) to vehicular movement, to pollutants’ emission an...

1 Abstract A generic proecological traffic control model for the urban street canyon is proposed by development of advanced continuum field hydrodynamical control model of the street canyon. The model of optimal control of street canyon dynamics is also investigated. 3 Dispersion of particles, as evidenced by changes in their number distributions (PNDs) and 4 concentrations (PNCs), in urban street canyons, is still not well understood. This study compares 5 measurements by a fast–response particle spectrometer (DMS500) of the PNDs and the PNCs (5– 6 1000 nm, sampled at 1 Hz) at street and rooftop levels in a Cambridge (UK) street canyon, and 7 examines mixi...
متن کاملThree Dimensional Analysis of Pollution Dispersion in Street Canyon
Three dimensional simulations are carried out to estimate the effect of wind direction, wind speed and geometry on the flow and dispersion of vehicular pollutant in a street canyon. The pollutant sources are motor vehicles passing between the two buildings. Suitable emission factors for petrol and diesel vehicles at varying vehicle speed are used for the estimation of the rate of emission from ...
